WINDSOR – Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter took part in a groundbreaking Thursday for Hexcel Corp.’s new 100,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in east Windsor, noting the company fits well with the state’s emphasis on a New Energy Economy under his administration.

Connecticut-based Hexcel is the world’s largest manufacturer of strong, lightweight composite materials for the wind-energy generating market. Hexcel’s facility is located at 31815 Great Western Drive in Windsor’s Great Western Industrial Park and is expected to employ about 100 workers when it opens in about a year.

Hexcel will supply materials to nearby Vestas Wind Systems, which opened a wind turbine blade factory in Windsor in March.
