952879_64710256On Thursday March 2nd, 2015, Joshua Lindenstein with BizWest reported on the statistics for both Larimer and Weld Counties according to the United States Census Bureau:

The Greeley metropolitan statistical area, which is in Weld County, came in eighth on the list with a growth rate of 2.6 percent. The Fort Collins MSA, or Larimer County, came in 12th with a growth rate of 2.2 percent.

The growth estimates measure the period from July 1, 2013 to July 1, 2014. The Villages, Fla., topped the list with 5.4 percent growth.

Fueled in large part by a booming energy industry, Weld County’s population grew from 270,560 in 2013 to 277,670 in 2014, according to the Census Bureau’s estimates.

Larimer County grew less percentage-wise but more in raw figures, from 316,494 to 324,122.

To the south in the Boulder MSA, or Boulder County, the growth rate was 0.9 percent. Population there grew from 310,396 to 313,333.

Broomfield County is part of the 10-county Denver-Aurora-Lakewood MSA, which just missed the Census Bureau’s top 20 fastest-growing list with a growth rate of 2.0 percent, going from 2,699,750 to 2,754,258.

Weld and Larimer counties were the only Colorado areas to make the national top 20. But all of the state’s seven MSAs grew. Colorado Springs MSA population climbed 1.2 percent, while the Grand Junction MSA saw a rate of 0.4 percent and the Pueblo MSA a rate of 0.3 percent.
